Sisters Are Doing It For Themselves
Elderly in Cobh Hospital Stay Sociable During Lockdown.
A musical duo are attempting to bring calm in a time of panic by broadcasting live performances to the elderly at Cobh hospital amid the coronavirus pandemic.
Due to the Covid19 lockdown and social distancing, the hospital is not able to let family and friends visit with many events that involve visitors cancelled.
To help, staff and the Friends of Cobh Hospital committee are finding new and inventive ways to keep everybody entertained and keep their mood up.
Musicians Tom Murray and Diarmuid Moroney may not be performing in the hospital in a live setting for the foreseeable future.
But the pair are choosing to spend this time helping the elderly and more vulnerable through the use of technology.
Using their music they are livestreaming into the hospital through the Friends of Cobh Hospital facebook page, helping to make the elderly residents in the care home more comfortable.
The first concert took place last weekend and proved so popular that a second gig has been arranged for today (sunday 5 April).
The pair will be streaming their live performance from 2:30pm on Facebook.
The hour long concert from Tom Murray’s home is expected to feature an eclectic mix of songs from the ferry man, to teenager in love and the mermaid.
Why not tune in and let the residents know you are thinking of them in this dark time.
