974 people were caught speeding nationally in the 24 hour period between Friday 30 May and Saturday 31 May.
The highest speed recorded in the East Cork area during operation slowdown was 127 km/h in a 100 km/h zone on the N25 at Ballyadam, Carrigtwohill.
