Cork County council have become the first authority to launch an App which gives users access to planning applications and associated documents from their smart phone and Ipad.
The App launched by the authorities head of IT Martin Crummey is unique in that it uses Google maps and street view.
Users can download the App for free from the apple and android stores, every application from September 2011 can be viewed through the online app and documentation associated with that planning application.
Other features on the App allows users to view planning application by number, by location, date to and from parameters and applicants name.
The App also provides a summary of the application and allows you to drill down to full detail.
Depending on how rural or urban the location is you will be able to jump down to the street view and sit outside the actual development location.
For android App it can be found on google play by searching for planning viewer Cork and in the App store.
The programme was originally designed for the iphone and android the application is also compatible with Ipad.
Martin Crummey the Councils head of IT stated “for those using Ipad it is important to download the app from the Iphone section of the app store.”
